Away from the screen, many adoring fans want to know how Eastwood manages life as an elderly citizen and what lifestyle habits he follows to have lived to be 90 years old.
Eastwood has previously stated that the “trick” to growing older is to simply “lay back and enjoy” it, along with a healthy diet, spending time outside, and keeping your mind sharp.
When speaking with Closer, Eastwood said, “I have a friend who is in his 90s, and I said to him, ‘You look real good – what’s the deal?”
“He says, ‘Never let the old man in.’ And he didn’t,” the star continued.
After his father died of a heart attack when he was 63, Eastwood became even more concerned about his own health.
Although Eastwood was well into adulthood when he lost his father, he admitted that the event “hit [him]like a ton of bricks,” and he also condoned some of his father’s lifestyle choices, such as smoking and eating a poor diet.
In stark contrast to his late father, Eastwood has always placed a high priority on his diet and has worked hard to maintain a healthy cholesterol level.

“I’ve never had a lot of body fat, but I’ve always been pretty good about watching my diet,” he explained.
“Avoid carbohydrates, particularly rich desserts,” says the author.
“It’s a good idea to keep a scale in your bathroom.”

Dr. Harry Demopoulos, Eastwood’s doctor at the time, commented on the strict nature of Eastwood’s diet, as well as an important but often “neglected” lifestyle habit.
“He never eats fat, he takes his antioxidants religiously, he works out like a demon, and he gets plenty of sleep, which is an area that is often neglected in a fitness program,” Dr Harry added.
