* Effective December 6, 2021, all travelers to the United States, including U.S. citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), and nonimmigrants, regardless of vaccination status, must present airlines with a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than one (1) calendar day before their flight or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days. Children from age 2 to age 17 are also subject to this testing requirement. All nonimmigrant, noncitizen air travelers to the United States are required to be fully vaccinated and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to the United States. Test results are generally provided within 24 hours. Please note that this list is by no means exhaustive, and U.S. citizens should contact these medical centers and hospitals directly if they have questions. U.S. citizens in other provinces in Vietnam may also contact an authorized testing facility in that province about pre-departure testing services. COVID-19 Testing for Domestic Travel:
Beginning January 22, all airline passengers, including children under 12 years old, no longer need to present proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and negative testing prior to boarding. Airline passengers departing from areas identified by the Vietnamese government as “Very High Risk (Level 4)” must present a rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen testing certificate issued within 72 hours prior to boarding. Testing fee ranges from around 83,000 VND to around 600,000 VND, depending on the testing facilities. Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Health has published a list of hospitals and clinics offering this service on their website here (please note that the information on the list is managed by the Vietnamese government and is subject to changes without prior notice.) U.S. citizens may also contact their hotels, landlords, employers, or a nearby medical center for instructions on where to conduct this test and obtain the negative testing certificate for domestic travel.
Airport Pre-boarding COVID-19 Testing service:
- In Hanoi: Since July 10, Noi Bai Airport has offered pre-boarding COVID-19 testing service for passengers flying domestically from Hanoi. U.S. citizens who have questions about this service should contact air carriers directly.
- In Ho Chi Minh City: Since July 11, Tan Son Nhat Airport has offered pre-boarding COVID-19 testing service for passengers flying domestically from HCMC. U.S. citizens who have questions about this service should contact air carriers directly.
