The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District is now 767 daily cases — about 1,000 cases fewer than last Tuesday’s average.
The city’s positivity rate has also declined for the past 3 weeks. It is now 17.9%, the lowest it’s been since the week of Dec. 11-17, when it was about 2%. Since then, the positivity rate has been in the 20-30% range.
There have been about 84,000 tests reported in the area in the week of Feb. 5-11 — the latest data reported. Of those tests, about 15,000 had positive results. City officials reported 1,012 new confirmed cases on Tuesday, bringing the total to 517,272 since March 2020.
Hospitalizations have been declining, too. There are now 638 people hospitalized locally, a decline of nearly 300 patients since last Tuesday. There have been 5,200 deaths in the community from the virus since March 2020.
Statewide trends reflect the local COVID-19 situation, with cases and hospitalizations beginning to decline. There are 7,100 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state.
About 63% of all eligible Texans (those 5+) are fully vaccinated, and about 67.6% of those eligible in Bexar County are fully vaccinated.
