As Sister Wives’ star Christine Brown recently tied the knot with her new husband David Woolley, we’re taking a closer look at his family’s heartbreaking family tragedies.
Christine and David recently shared a beautiful fairytale wedding together that was aired on Sister Wives giving fans a special inside look at the occasion.
This comes as Christine divorced her emotionally abusive ex-husband Kody Brown back in 2021 during the 17th season of the hit TLC reality series that followed his polyamorous marriages.
But now as Christine steps into a new chapter of her life it has been revealed that David’s family has endured a tragic string of bad luck over the years.
Before David and Christine said exchange their vows, David’s family has grieved over a number of unexpected deaths including David’s niece and two children being murdered on a trip to Mexico and David’s ex-wife dying from suicide at the age of 43 years old.
Back in November of 2019, David’s niece Dawna Ray Langford was killed along with her two young children 11-year-old Trevor Harvey Langford and two-year-old Rogan Jay Langford. The three were unfortunate victims of the deadly Mexico massacre during which three American moms and six children were murdered.
Seventy miles south of the Mexico-US border a gunman opened fire at three vehicles that were on route to a wedding. Inside the vehicles were members of a Mormon community called La Mora. Dawna and her sons were inside the vehicles at the time of the attack.
The other lives taken during the horrific incident were 30-year-old Rhonita Miller, 29-year-old Langford Johnson, 12-year-old Howard Miller Jr., 10-year-old Krystal Miller, and 8-month-old twins Titus Miller and Tiana Miller.

Out of the eight victims six were children and five children were wounded and transported to an Arizona hospital. Three others were uninjured and able to safely return to their family members.
One of these survivors included David’s niece’s son Devin Langford. Luckily he was able to escape the attack and walk on foot 14 miles before finding help. In an interview with ABC, David detailed the event and described Devin’s survival as “beyond amazing” and all of the survivors “living miracles.”
David’s niece Dawna Ray Langford was the child of his sister who resides in Mexico. David is part of a huge family including his seven siblings Karen, Shanna, Roy, Tamara, Harold, Christine and Katricia.
Similar to Christina’s previous marriage, David’s sisters are also in polygamous marriages making him very familiar with the non-traditional family dynamic.
Before Christina, David shared a 20-year-long marriage with his late wife Margaret Lucille Sulin Woolley whose life came to a tragic end in July of 2012 as she committed suicide at the age of 43 following a long battle with depression.
