Update: Sorry guys, April fools! Kanye and Jay Z are still not friends or going to space – but Elon Musk is still very rocket-savvy.
Jay-Z and Kanye West have put aside their differences to make history as they announce their Watch The Throne II concert in collaboration with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
After pulling off the incredible feat of successfully launching Falcon Heavy, the world’s most powerful rocket, Musk describes the forthcoming space concert with the rappers as a ‘dream come true’.
In a statement sent out to press, a rep for SpaceX said: ‘It has always been one of Elon’s desires to make space travel as accessible as possible to everyone and he believes putting the Kanye West and Jay Z concert on Heavy Falcon to entertain commuters will most certainly be one of history’s most defining moment.
The statement explains that the duo will perform hits from their collaborative album Watch The Throne including fan favourite N***as In Paris and No Church In The Wild in 2020.
‘Kanye West and Jay Z have been in talks with SpaceX for a few months now and have both signed the deal,’ the statement reads from the private rocket company. ‘Our founder Elon Musk is a big fan of the Watch The Throne album and has been calling the deal a dream come true.
‘Elon feels that getting Jay-Z and Kanye back together is almost as big as an achievement as the Tesla cars.’
It is no secret that Musk, also the founder of Tesla, is a huge fan of Kanye’s as he previously confessed to feeling ‘inspired’ by the rapper, who is married to Kim Kardashian.
Speaking at a surprise sold-out Q&A session at South by South West (SXSW) festival on 11 March, Musk was asked: ‘Everyone in this room is inspired by you, who are you inspired by?’
‘Well, Kanye West obviously,’ Musk replied – to laughs and applause from the audience in Austin, Texas.
It is not clear whether the concert will be live-streamed to fans back at home, but lucky fans will have to dig deep into their pockets as bookies have predicted the tickets will cost between £170,000 and £200,000.
This isn’t the first quirky idea that Musk has had – on 6 February Space X launched Heavy Falcon from the same launch pad used by Nasa nearly 50 years ago to send men to the moon – and the rocket carried a red electric sports case into space.
With lift-off, the Heavy became the most powerful rocket in use today, doubling the take-off punch of its closest competitor.
While the billionaire’s other mission is to get people living on Mars by 2024 – he’s insisted the Martian colony he is planning to build won’t just be an ‘escape hatch for rich people’ – we feel that getting Kanye and Jay Z to bury the hatchet is an incredible feat.
Kanye and Jay Z, who released Watch The Throne in 2011 with features from Frank Ocean and Beyonce, have been embroiled in a bitter feud.
During an October 2016 concert, Kanye went on a rant about Jay and the fact that their daughters North and Blue Ivy, respectively, have never had a play date.
‘Our kids ain’t never even played together,’ he said after addressing the possibility of a future Watch the Throne 2 album.

Kanye also addressed his wife Kim’s traumatic Paris robbery and Jay and Bey’s lack of reaching out during the difficult time.
‘Don’t call me, after the robbery, and say “how you feelin?’”
Jay later seemingly dissed Kanye in his 2017 studio album 4:44, and a few days after the project release Kanye reportedly sued Jay-Z’s Tidal.
Kanye alleged that the company owes him more than $3 million (£2.1 million), and he has reportedly attempted to end his agreement with the music service only to have the company threaten to sue him for breach of contract, according to TMZ.
