Born in 1984, LeBron James started enjoying the national spotlight at a very young age after he was listed as the top high school basketball player in the country while playing for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. After being touted as a future NBA superstar right out of high school, LeBron was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003 as the first overall draft pick.
LeBron’s superstar qualities were immediately put on display in the NBA, and he was awarded the NBA Rookie of the Year award after his first season with the Cavaliers. During his time at Cleveland, LeBron went on to rack up numerous other accolades, including the NBA Most Valuable Player Award in 2009 and 2010. However, one honor that LeBron did not earn at Cleveland was a championship. Falling short of expectations set by the media, fans, and himself by not winning a championship, LeBron decided to sign with the Miami Heat in what is largely regarded as one of the most controversial free-agent decisions in sports history.
Regardless of the controversy, though, the move to Miami was one that earned LeBron the thing he wanted most – an NBA championship. In fact, LeBron earned back-to-back NBA championships at Miami during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
After four seasons with Miami, though, LeBron decided to return to his home state of Ohio by re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and in 2016, LeBron was finally able to bring an NBA championship back home to Cleveland and end the city’s 52-year professional sports title drought by defeating the Golden State Warriors in the NBA championship.

LeBron’s dominance on the basketball court has been so extraordinary that he has led Cleveland to the NBA championship for the past four years in a row – all four times playing against Golden State in a matchup that Cleveland has only won once out of the past four championships.
Today, though, the future of LeBron’s NBA career at Cleveland remains in question, as he is expected to soon decide whether he wants to stay at Cleveland or sign with another NBA team.
Regardless of the direction that he takes in his future career, there’s no denying the success that his career has brought him thus far. In 2017, Forbes pegged LeBron James’s net worth to be $86 million, and in 2003 LeBron signed a deal with Nike that is estimated to earn him $1 billion throughout his lifetime.
As evident by the Nike deal, not all of LeBron’s wealth has come from his NBA contracts, and LeBron’s success in marketing himself has played just a key role in his career as his success on the basketball court. Of the many tactics that LeBron and his team have used to grow his brand, one of the most influential has been LeBron James’s logo.
