Meri Brown is not here for the haters! The Sister Wives star got real on The Sarah Fraser Show, spilling the tea on the polarized reactions she receives about her transgender child, Leon Brown.
And let’s just say, she’s not holding back.
For those who might not know, the Brown family catapulted to fame in 2010 with the premiere of Sister Wives on TLC.
The show delves into the polygamous lifestyle of Kody Brown and his four wives—Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn—and their combined 18 children.
The series has chronicled the ups and downs of their unconventional family dynamic, keeping viewers hooked for over a decade.
Leon, the only child of Meri and ex-husband Kody Brown, came out as transgender and queer in June 2022, rocking the world with their bravery and authenticity.
Since then, they’ve chosen to step back from the family’s TLC show, but that hasn’t stopped people from weighing in—often harshly—on Meri’s social media.
Meri Says Her Child Leon Still Gets Hate
“The commentary that I get about Leon is very polarizing,” Meri dished on the podcast. “I mean, it is… it’s going to be that way.
I always appreciate the support, the comments of support, that I get, and obviously, I don’t appreciate the hate that comes at me. I just, I don’t think hate has any purpose or any value, you know?” Preach, Meri!
Although Meri keeps a lot of details about Leon on the down-low out of respect for their privacy, she made it clear they’re tight. “I don’t talk about them a lot just because they kind of want to remain as private—and have their own life—as possible,” she said. “But Leon and I have a really good relationship.”
Now, here’s a nugget that might’ve flown under your radar: Leon and their longtime partner Audrey Kriss, who is also transgender, secretly tied the knot in October 2022 in a cozy ceremony in Colorado Springs.
The lovebirds got engaged back in January 2019 during the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., and had even talked about their wedding plans on Sister Wives before Leon left the show.
Kody Isn’t As Supportive Of Leon As Meri Is
Sadly, Kody and Meri were MIA at the wedding, but Meri has been Leon’s number one fan since their transition. Kody, on the other hand? Not so much.
According to The Ashley, Kody and Leon haven’t been on speaking terms since Leon’s gender-affirming top surgery, which they revealed in January 2023.
“Kody does not support Leon’s transition at all,” spilled a source last year. “He’s actually disgusted by it, as terrible as that is. Kody is telling close friends, ‘This is a new person.
I don’t know who this person is, but this is not the little girl that I raised.’” Yikes, Kody, tell us how you really feel.
Through it all, Meri remains a fierce advocate for her child, shutting down the haters and showing what real support looks like.
It’s fantastic to see Meri standing by Leon’s side, championing their journey and proving what unconditional love truly means. Too bad the same can’t be said for Kody. Looks like Meri is the real MVP in this family saga!
