TTO – The Crew Dragon spacecraft has just landed in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, near the coast of Florida (USA), morning 9-11 Vietnam time, bringing back 4 astronauts from the International Space Station (ISS). Safe Earth.In April 2021, the Crew Dragon spacecraft manufactured by space technology company SpaceX brought these 4 astronauts to the ISS.
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Elon Musk’s space exploration technology group SpaceX have teamed up to carry out this mission. The crew includes two NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough (54 years old, mission commander) and Megan McArthur (50 years old). The other two are Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide (52 years old) and French engineer Thomas Pesquet (43 years old, from the European Space Agency).
According to Reuters news agency, the Crew Dragon ship released its parachute and landed safely at 10:30 am on 9-11 Vietnam time.
Operating on a self-propelled mechanism, Crew Dragon began its journey back to Earth 8 hours earlier. The spacecraft flew 90 minutes around the ISS for the crew to take survey photos before returning to Earth.
After the final firing of the propulsion, the Crew Dragon re-entered the atmosphere at a speed of about 27,359 km/h. Friction created as the capsule plunges through the atmosphere often pushes the temperature outside the hull to 1,927 degrees Celsius.
The astronauts’ travel gear is designed to stay cool if the cabin gets hot, while a heat shield protects the capsule from burning.
Previously, NASA announced that this crew had a leak in the water pipe in the storage compartment, making the toilet inoperable. NASA has asked astronauts to use diapers on their way back to Earth.
