Pedro Jimeno undoubtedly made himself the villain on The Family Chantel, and despite his distance from the show, he will repair his reputation. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Pedro met Chantel Everett online, and their relationship was chronicled on 90 Day Fiancé as they navigated the challenges of K-1 visa processes and integrating into each other’s families. Karen Everett was always suspicious of Pedro’s intentions, and it’s fair to say she was right.
As Pedro and Chantel’s story progressed in The Family Chantel, their conflicts escalated. Pedro clearly used Chantel for a green card, and the relationships between Chantel and Pedro’s families became increasingly toxic. While Pedro later transitioned into a real estate career and began focusing on self-improvement, by mid-2022, Pedro and Chantel’s marriage ended when Pedro filed for divorce, marking the official collapse of their highly publicized relationship. While The Family Chantel season 5 has finished, Pedro will never overcome his bad reputation.
Pedro was always trying to break Chantel’s spirit and embarrass her on TV rather than supporting her and standing by her, a major red flag and an indication of his deep-seated villainous nature. Even during divorce proceedings, Pedro tried to humiliate Chantel by accusing her of stealing $275,000 from their joint account. According to Pedro, Chantel allegedly withdrew the money and placed it in a separate account without his consent. Pedro claimed she took the money to block him from accessing any of the funds.
Chantel, in her defense, reportedly argued that she did this to protect herself financially, fearing Pedro might try to take more than his fair share. Their joint finances had been a contentious issue in their relationship, with Pedro increasingly accusing Chantel of being selfish and mismanaging their funds. However, this was simply the nail in the coffin of his villainy.
Pedro never supported Chantel in The Family Chantel, seemingly only using her to gain access to the United States.
One of Pedro’s worst moments came when Chantel failed her nursing exam. Instead of supporting and encouraging her, he belittled and embarrassed her. After Chantel failed the test, Pedro seemed unsupportive and critical of her career ambitions, only focused on her moneymaking abilities. He consistently undermined her efforts and expressed frustration over her slow progress in advancing her career.
Pedro often questioned Chantel’s work ethic despite her aspirations to become a nurse. When she failed the exam, Pedro was dismissive, and it was difficult to forget his lack of empathy. Chantel was trying to balance work and school, and Pedro didn’t care. He never cared about Chantel, only dollar signs and receiving a green card.
While Pedro’s dedication to his family was admirable, he never stood up for Chantel with Lidia Morel or Nicole Jimeno, even when they were wrong. Throughout their relationship, Chantel frequently found herself at odds with Pedro’s family. Lidia and Nicole made numerous disparaging remarks about Chantel, often questioning her intentions and portraying her as manipulative despite Pedro being the manipulator in their situation. Pedro rarely defended Chantel against their accusations, often remaining neutral or siding with his family.
This lack of support deeply affected their marriage. During a family dinner in the Dominican Republic, Lidia and Nicole aggressively confronted Chantel about her relationship with Pedro. Rather than defending his wife, Pedro stayed neutral and forced Chantel to fend for herself. His entire life in the United States depended on his marriage to Chantel, but he didn’t seem to care about her.
Pedro’s loyalty to his family created a rift between him and Chantel and was one of the contributing factors to their failed marriage. His reluctance to intervene on Chantel’s behalf seemed to validate Lidia and Nicole’s negative view of her, which only worsened their marital woes. This dynamic led to frequent arguments in their relationship, with Chantel often expressing frustration over Pedro’s failure to prioritize her. He may be trying to clean up his image now, but he’ll always be seen as the bad guy.
Pedro faced cheating allegations during his marriage to Chantel, and while he denied all accusations, he made it seem like he was a cheater. His alleged infidelity stemmed from interactions with two women in his real estate office—his co-worker Antonella Barrenechea and his boss, Laura Delgado. Pedro was focusing more on work and less on his marriage, but it’s possible the explanation for his absence was even more nefarious.
Chantel grew suspicious when she found Antonella’s name on Pedro’s keys and noticed her belongings in his car. Antonella and Pedro were also spending a lot of time together outside of work. Pedro dismissed Chantel’s concerns, claiming it was all part of office pranks and camaraderie, but it seemed suspicious.
Pedro’s close relationship with his boss, Laura, also raised eyebrows. Laura, who has a criminal past involving tax fraud, was unusually close with Pedro, further fueling rumors. After Pedro and Chantel’s split, he was spotted vacationing with Laura and Antonella in Peru, intensifying the gossip about potential infidelity. Pedro denied any wrongdoing, but he made himself look like a cheater.
Amid all the accusations, Pedro did nothing to try and repair his damaged reputation. Perhaps he thinks it’s a lost cause, or maybe Pedro enjoys playing the villain. Throughout their relationship shown on The Family Chantel, Pedro is consistently detached and never does anything to fix his reputation. He frequently dismissed her concerns and prioritized his family over their marriage, bringing his commitment into question. When Pedro is faced with accusations he married Chantel for a green card, he can’t defend himself.
Rather than taking responsibility for the breakdown of their marriage, Pedro shifted the blame onto Chantel, showing little self-awareness. His behavior after the divorce has done little to repair his image, as he has focused more on being the funny guy online. His playbook is to consistently deflect and apologize for nothing.
In contrast, Chantel has maintained her composure and focused on her personal growth, career, and family. By leaving Pedro, she dodged a bullet, as his lack of effort would have just led to more heartbreak. Pedro will always be the villain in The Family Chantel story, and he’s never going to repair his reputation. Any efforts are too little, too late.
